Obligation to Wear a Seat Belt

In our country, a large number of our citizens lose their lives and get injured in traffic accidents every year. One of the most important measures to reduce the number of deaths and injuries in accidents is the use of seat belts. It has been demonstrated through research that the use of seat belts reduces deaths inside vehicles after accidents by 45% and serious injuries by 55%. According to Article 78 of the Highway Traffic Law No. 2918 and Article 150 of the relevant Regulation, it is mandatory for drivers and passengers to wear seat belts.
